Irene Dubiel, 92, of Independence, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Grand View Care Center, Blair.
Irene was born February 25, 1928 in Arcadia to Edward and Helen (Marsolek) Bautch. She married Ernest L. Dubiel on June 3, 1946 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence.
The couple farmed in Traverse Valley until retirement in 1974 and then moved to Independence. Irene was a babysitter 28 years for many children. She was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Irene was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its women’s organization and rosary society.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Roger) Waletzko of Independence, a son, Dennis (Nancy) Dubiel of Independence; a sister, Maya (Wayne) Wegner of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren, Debbie (Dale) Haines, Jerry (Monica) Waletzko, Julia (Rick) Komperud, Duane (Kriss) Dubiel, Jeannie (Terry Pronschinske) Dubiel, Jackie (Jeff) Cooper and Dean (Danielle) Dubiel; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest on March 25, 2013; three brothers, Ralph, Dick and Donny and two sisters, Florence and Betty.
Mass of Christian Burial (with COVID-19 guidelines) will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass.
