James Byron Haldeman, age 70, died unexpectedly at home, Tuesday February 9, 2021.
Jim was born in Black River Falls on December 14, 1950 to Byron and Carolyn (Potter) Haldeman. Jim graduated high school and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. While many of his peers growing up were trying to decide what to be when they grew up, a fireman? a policeman? a lawyer or doctor? Jim already knew. He was a deputy sheriff (Badge #36) for some 20 years, and a fireman, and an EMT and a business owner as a Re-Max real estate broker, and a Harley Davidson enthusiast.
When Jim wasn’t working, he and Barb loved to travel (park and ride style) taking trips to Tennessee, North Carolina, South Dakota, or wherever adventure called taking their motor home with the Harley in tow for exploring the surrounding countryside. He enjoyed the Canon Run. And in his younger years was quite the hunter and trap shooter. Jim was a devout man who loved his lord and his ever-growing family. God bless our memories of Jim as he will truly be missed by anyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Surviving Jim are his wife Barbara; his children Laura McNeill, Christine (Jim) Thomas, Robyn (Fred Fredrickson) Matousek, Reed Richardson, Ryan Richardson; his grandchildren Jack McNeill, Grace, Jonah, and Alayna Thomas, Elysia House, Kira and Ally Richardson, Hannah and Katie Dvorak, and Noah and Tessa Matousek; and his great granddaughter Adaline House. Further surviving Jim are his sisters Cheryl Nortman, LuAnne (Ken) Schoolcraft, Judy (Rich) Lee and Cate Hallisy, as well as his uncle Gale Haldeman, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Byron and Carolyn; his brother Michael Haldeman and a brother-in-law Ron Nortman.
