Joyce Irene Funmaker, age 66, of Black River Falls, WI passed away on May 29th, 2022. She was born on August 16th, 1955 in Black River Falls to Irene Whitegull and Henry Rave.
She attended Black River Falls High School. Over the years she supported her family working in a variety of jobs, including for Zenith TV Corporation in Sioux City Iowa, Iowa Beef Processors, and Ho-Chunk Head Start. She was a lifelong member of the Native American Church and could be found helping others in
the community by cooking meals and supporting families who’s loved ones had passed.
Joyce excelled at all Ho-Chunk arts and crafts including basket making, beadwork, and sewing. She enjoyed hunting, bingo, and of course, she was a Green Bay Packer Fan. As a young girl she danced Ho-Chunk applique and enjoyed riding horses. As an elder the thing she enjoyed most were her children and grandchildren, and most especially her great grandson Kingston.
She is survived by her children Courtney, Amy, Bear, and Skylar Funmaker, brothers Roland Rave, Viretta Syckman, Francis Rave Sr., and grandchildren Allyson Funmaker, Nathaniel McKee, Chenille Funmaker-Rosario, Tristan Rosario, Malena McKee, Natalya Cleveland, Morgan Cleveland, Isaiah Rave, Jarvis Funmaker, Tristan Funmaker, Malachi Funmaker, and great grandson Kingston Ramsey Pfaff.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry & Irene Rave, brother Gayland Rave, sisters Pat Whiteman, Justine Archer, Gail Rave, brother Theodore Rave, children Ramsey & Lena Funmaker, and granddaughter McKayla McKee.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at District One Community Center with Shannon Rave officiating. Burial will follow at Decorah Cemetery. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10:00 a.m. unit the time of service at the Community Center on Wednesday.
The Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
