Maria Louise Breien, age 91, died Monday October 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

 Maria was born February 18, 1930 in Stuttgart, Germany to Julius and Maria (Bolz) Eller. Maria was a high school graduate.

 Maria was very devout and was a prayerful example of a good Christian woman for her children and her grandchildren, she loves so very much. She loved her home and especially getting it ready for special holidays. Between the decorations and the holiday cooking Martha Stewart could take pointers from Maria. She loved to cook, and everyone needed at the very least two helpings of everything. Her holiday cookies and chocolates will forever be a fond memory.

 Maria was a little German spitfire, who loved conversations, loved to talk politics, didn’t like skinny folks, loved to play cards like Euchre’ and penny poker. She could be very persuasive and she was a strong willed feminist. She was a practical joker with a ‘wicked’ sense of humor. She loved; to go camping as she was a stout hearted, European, Mom. She enjoyed traveling to different places. She liked her sports. And Maria loved animals her fat ‘wiener dogs’, her dachshunds. Maria loved Wisconsin and her vibrant energy will forever be missed.

 Surviving Maria are her daughters Gabriella Arnold of Germany, Janice (Pat Tuschel) Breien and Heidi (Ron Rekowski) Burgos; her grandchildren Marcos Arnold, Thomas (Manuela) Arnold, Astrid Arnold, Dale Breien, Christopher (Loren) Thompson and Adam (Jessica) Thompson; her great-grandchildren Rene’ Arnold, Wyatt Thompson and Victoria; her sister Doris ‘Aunt Dottie’ Jenkins.

 She was preceded in death by her husband George; her parents; a daughter Cassandra Adkins; a son Andrew Breien; a brother-in-law Kenneth Jenkins and sister-in-law Jurgen Arnold.

 A “Celebration of Maria Life” will be held Wednesday November 3, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. a memorial service is set for 2:45 PM., at the Schiefelbein Funeral Home, 13507 Seventh St., in Osseo.  Pastor Valerian Alhes will officiate. Burial will follow the services at the Hamlin Cemetery on Co. Rd., V just west of Stum.
