Marie (Ekern) Johnson, 104 years old, passed away January 5, 2021 at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls, WI where she was a resident for the past three years.
Marie was born November 1, 1916 in the Town of Gale to Albert and Karen Ekern. Marie married Clifford Johnson on October 28, 1936 at the Blair parsonage. They had three children-Duane, Donald and Diane.
Marie was a member of South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church. Every year for the church’s fall dinner she was there on Saturday to help peel many pounds of potatoes and always brought her own potato peeler. In her younger years she worked as a housekeeper and after marriage she helped her husband on the farm. Marie enjoyed it so much when friends and her family would visit her.
She is survived by her son, Duane (Shirley); a daughter, Diane Olson; eight grandchildren;17 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband;a son, Donald;a son-in-law, Duane Olson; a brother, Joseph Ekern; a sister, Selma Johnson and her parents.
Due to covid restrictions a drive-thru visitation will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 from noon to 2:00 P.M. at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, County D, rural Ettrick. A private family burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
