Michael John Stensven, age 62, died at home late Wednesday night October 6, 2021.
Michael was born July 18, 1959 in LaCrosse, WI to Orville and Dorothy (Kroener) Stensven. Michael was an industrious and hard worker his whole life. He was a high school graduate who even before that started to work on cars at the age of 16 at Kruegers Automotive where he eventually was a mechanic and kept working for the next 10years. After that, Michael became a machinist for Nelson Mufflers, then a supervisor at Matthews’ Bows in Sparta for 5 years, and finally worked as a machinist/fabricator for over 10 years, until now, at OEM Fabricators in Neillsville, WI. Even when Michael wasn’t working, he was… his favorite pastime was woodworking in his own shop. He could and did make everything imaginable out of wood from memory chests to vanities to dressers and tables mostly out of love for any and all of his family members often as unexpected Christmas gifts.
Michael’s love of his family went far beyond his gift of wood. He got no greater pleasure out of life than spending time with his family, and spoiling his grandchildren with trips to his cabin, he never went there alone. While at his cabin they would go four-wheeling and fishing, and he could share his prowess with a Matthews bow, deer hunting. Michael will always be in our hearts and forever missed.
Surviving Michael are his loving wife Sandra ‘Sandy’; his children Derek (Danielle Gregory) Small, Mindy (Matthew) Gilbertson, Stephanie Small and Matthew (Emily Olson) Stensven; his 17 grandchildren Jaida, Traci, Grace, Kaylee, Scarlett, Gavyn, Caiden, Eva, Brayden, Austin, Landon, Phoebe, Talia, Damian, Jordan, Keira and Eden; his sister Nancy (Harold) Kennedy; his mother-in-law Patty Iverson; and brother and sister in-laws Burton Wheeler and Marion Stensven; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Further surviving are his close special friends Steve and Debbie Roseth, and Kenny and Denise Krosinski & families.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law Obert Iverson; his brother Donnie Stensven and sister Donna Wheeler.
