Staff at the Monroe County History room recently presented at two conferences about their award-winning Monroe County A-Z exhibit. The Wisconsin Historical Society’s 15th Annual Local History & Historic Preservation Conference was held virtually at the end of October, and over 400 people attended the conference. The other conference was the Association of Midwest Museums and Wisconsin Federation of Museums joint Museums Evolving 2.0 conference originally scheduled for November of 2020, but was put on hold due to the pandemic and was held virtually this year. The Monroe County A-Z exhibit opened in June of 2018 and is a giant 3-D children’s pop-up book featuring photos, artifacts, and hands-on interactives to provide an introduction to Monroe County history. The Monroe County Local History Room & Museum is open Tues-Saturdays from 9-4 and is located at 200 W Main Street in Sparta.
