The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people that using a seatbelt while driving is the law and may save your life in the event of a traffic accident. The National Click It or Ticket campaign starts May 23rd and lasts through June 5th. The Sheriff’s Department reports that they’ll be patrolling for longer hours during the campaign. It’s reported 88% of Wisconsin motorists wear their seatbelts, but that number has been dropping in recent years, and that half of the drivers and passengers involved in deadly traffic crashes in Wisconsin in 2021 were not wearing seatbelts.
