National Military Appreciation Month

This May, the Wisconsin Army National Guard is proud to join forces
nationwide in celebrating National Military Appreciation Month. This annual celebration honors the
commitment, sacrifices, and service of military personnel and their families… past, present, and
future.
LTC Shannon Hellenbrand, the Commander of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, says, “National
Military Appreciation Month offers us a reminder of the selfless service and sacrifices made by our
military personnel and their families. It highlights the camaraderie, commitment, and courage that
define military service and provides a compelling invitation to those considering a future with the
Wisconsin Army National Guard. Celebrating this month helps ensure that the valor and dedication of
our troops are never taken for granted and always remembered with the highest regard, especially as
we welcome the next generation into our armed forces.”
National Military Appreciation Month is a time to acknowledge and express gratitude to the members
of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, reservists, those on active duty, and veterans, along
with their families. Throughout the month, the Wisconsin Army National Guard will recognize vital
members of the military family on:
