One person is hurt and another is in custody after a shooting in Eau Claire County.
According to the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on Birchwood Lane around 8 p.m. Wednesday night for a report of a gunshot victim.
Deputies found the victim and a witness to the shooting at the scene, while the suspect remained in the residence. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries. The Regional SWAT Team responded and safely took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was taken to the Eau Claire County Jail with preliminary charges of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Endangering Safety-Armed While Intoxicated.
Eau Claire County Detectives say they will continue to process the scene and provide a detailed report to the District Attorney’s Office.
The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Eau Claire and Altoona Police Departments, Wisconsin State Patrol, Eau Claire and Township Fire Departments, and Eau Claire County Regional SWAT.
The names of the suspect and victim have not been released.
