Jackson County’s Veterans Services is encouraging the community to show their support for local veterans by ordering and wearing “Support Veterans” shirts as part of Operation Green Light, happening November 1st through the 11th. Shirts are available online, and proceeds will go to the Jackson County Veterans Transportation Program — which helps veterans get to medical appointments when they have no other way to travel. This year alone, the program’s volunteer drivers have already provided more than 200 rides, double the number from past years. Shirts can be shipped directly to your home or picked up at the Veterans Service Office in the courthouse. For details or to order, call 715-284-0225. The deadline for orders is October 12th. We would like to invite our area communities to help us show support to our Veterans with Operation Green Light Nov 1- Nov 11th and possibly by wear one of our Support Veterans shirts which can be purchased online.
Proceeds will be going to the JC Veterans Transportation Program. This program gives a veteran a ride to their medical appointments when they can’t drive themselves or there is no family member or close friend to help them out. This year so far, we have given 228 rides, year to date with 3 months to go yet. This is over double the amount compared to previous years. We have 8 drivers that donate their time and their own vehicles, and we pay the drivers for their mileage.
If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, I have attached the link below for your convenience. You have the option to have your shirts shipped directly to you or have them shipped to the Veterans Service Office here in the courthouse for no shipping fee. If you have them sent to the Veterans Service Office, we will call you when they arrive for pick- up.
