A pair of individuals from Alma Center are in custody after they attempted a burglary. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday (8/30), they received a 911 call of a homeowner reporting a burglary in progress at their home in the Town of Alma. Based on a description of the individuals and their vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the male and female as 26-year-old Aaron Lowe and 33-year-old Jolene Lowe of Alma Center. On Tuesday (8/31), the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate the suspects and attempted to make contact with them. The suspects barricaded themselves inside their residence, and failed to comply with law enforcement, who were trying to get them out. After four hours of negotiations, chemical agents were used in the residence, and the two came out without further incident. Charges of Burglary, Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Criminal Trespass Dwelling, Failure to Comply, and Resisting/Obstructing were referred to the Jackson County District Attorney. The case is still under investigation, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that if you’ve been a victim of theft or burglary in the surrounding area, you should contact the sheriff’s office to report the incident if not done already.
