Expansion at plants in Appleton and Neenah could mean more than 200 new jobs for the area at Pierce Manufacturing. The announcement of the expansion was made Tuesday. Company officials say the demand for new fire trucks is driving the decision. Work has already started and should be complete by the fall of next year. Pierce makes custom fire equipment like rescue and wildland trucks, elliptical tankers, mini-pumpers, and other items. It currently has about 26 hundred employees. It is already in the process of hiring welders, painters, electricians, and assemblers.
