President Joe Biden used a stop in La Crosse Tuesday to promote the compromise infrastructure package. The president toured the La Crosse public transit center, and highlighted projects such as hybrid buses and road repair equipment that would receive additional funding through the bill. Biden says the package includes funding to address the threat of PFAS contamination. Biden noted that in La Crosse County, just this spring the state had to provide free bottled waters to thousand of people on French Island because they were worried about those chemicals in their groundwater. Biden is hoping to boost support for the proposed $973 billion infrastructure agreement, which is held together in large part by a promise of millions of new jobs.
