It’s a little like finding a 20-dollar bill stuffed under a cushion on your couch. The Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau is predicting the state will have an extra one-billion dollars in the bank at the end of the current budget. The Bureau points to better-than-expected tax revenue and a flood of federal money as reasons for the surprisingly good financial news. Members of the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee say the extra money will help shield Wisconsin from the economic downturn other states are dealing with during the coronavirus pandemic.
