Samelia Greer Pettibone, age 69, died Monday March 28, 2022 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse surrounded by her loving family.
Samelia was born April 30, 1952 in Madison, WI to Virgil and Lorraine (Snowball) Pettibone Sr. Samelia was a high school graduate, a construction worker, an elder care giver and a mom. She loved to cook, and spending time with her grandchildren and greats.
She loved going to the casino and was an avid van of bingo before Covid. Samelia liked old TV programs like ‘Little House on the Prairie’. She could shoot pretty good pool and even traveled once to Las Vegas for the tournaments one year. Samelia loved to travel, period, just about anywhere given the chance. Samelia loved dogs….she will be missed.
Surviving Samelia are her children Scott Edward Hopinkha, Lynette Hopinkha and Christie (Jeff) Conn; her Grandchildren Lacie Hopinkha, Lorraine Hopinkha, Jeffrey Warar, Destina Warar, Laurelei Ryan, Ileesiah Ryan, Geralyn Conn, Nevaya Conn, Krisi Conn, Geracyn Conn and Jonathon Conn; her 7 great-grandchildren, her brothers Virgil (Lori) Pettibone Jr. and Roger ‘Hutch’ Pettibone as well as numerous nieces nephews and other friends and relatives.
Samelia was preceded in death by both of her parents; an infant daughter Theresa LeGarde and Samelia’s brother Jeffrey Pettibone.
Funeral Services for Samelia will be held Thursday March 31, 2022 at 11:30 AM at the Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., in Black River Falls WI. Chief Clayton Winneshiek will officiate, burial will follow in the Decorah Cemetery. Friends may come to a visitation with the family, Thursday morning at the Funeral Home from 10-11:30 AM before the service.
