Smoking Banned at All-Abilities Park

Smoking, vaping, and tobacco products are now banned at the All-Abilities Park inside the Lunda Community Park, Black River Falls. The city’s Common Council approved the ordinance at its meeting this last week. First time violators could face a fine of up to $500 and 90 days in jail. The Common Council also heard the first reading of the sex offender residency ordinance. The City Attorney says the public will be invited to review the final version before a Council vote. Recommended changes from the City of Tomah’s ordinance, including a ten-year exemption, property owner restrictions, and having the Police Chief handle exemption requests were approved. Meanwhile, plans for a separate Sex Offender Appeals Board were paused, as changes to the main ordinance may make it unnecessary. Kristi Pronschinske, Transportation Director for the School District of Black River Falls, shared
information on how bus stops are established and moved. School bus stop language in the ordinance will be coordinated with the school district and the Ho-Chunk Nation.
