A suspected intoxicated driver was arrested Saturday night in Monroe County after fleeing officers. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports they were first informed that a Black Chevy Equinox might be traveling into the county from La Crosse County. It was reported the driver was operating without headlights. A Cashton Police Officer noticed the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 27 just before 10:00pm. The suspect fled from the Officer near the Village of Melvina and exceeded speeds of 110 mph. Tire deflation devices were used in the Village of Leon and continued to flee from Law Enforcement until he struck a guardrail near Icon Avenue on Highway 27. The suspect was detained and identified as 48-year-old Chad Weaver. Weaver was booked into the Monroe County Jail for 6th Offense OWI, felony fleeing an officer, second degree recklessly endangering safety, felony bail jumping, and also issued multiple citations. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports the pursuit lasted less than 4 minutes.
