Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville say plans for five acres of solar panels could say the school up to 217-thousand dollars-a-year. When completed it would be the largest state-owned solar array in Wisconsin and would make it the sixth-highest on-site producer of renewable energy among U-S universities. Final approval was just given this month for a solar project that has been planned for years. School officials say construction will start as soon as the weather permits. The whole project should be completed by the time students return to campus this fall. The solar farm will provide about 17-percent of the university’s electricity needs.
