Verland D. Casper, 79, of Black River Falls, WI passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire. He was born on November 19, 1942 in Black River Falls, WI to Glen and Ledra Casper.
Verland grew up in Merrillan, WI. After graduating High School he enlisted in the Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. After his honorable discharge from the Army he began working at the Iron Mine until the time of its closure. After his career in the Iron Mine he began a job sanding floors for gymnasiums around the entire Midwest. For the last 20 years of his career he worked in construction as a member of the local 141 Laborer’s Union until his retirement at 74 years or age. He was a member of the Alma Center American Legion. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed many hobbies which included gardening, fishing, exercising, and traveling. He was passionate about the wildlife that visited his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Casper; and the mother of his children, Carol Doud.
Verland is survived by his children, Verland Glenn (Selena) Casper, and Kimberly (Joseph) Tomlinson; grandchildren, Devin (Natasha) Casper, Cole Casper, Alexa Tomlinson; great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Kourtlynn Casper; siblings, Karen Burnett, Calvin (Sharon) Olson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Verland’s life will be held on Saturday, March 19th from 2-6 PM at the American Legion Post #200 in Black River Falls.
