WI DNR: Mentors Needed for Young Hunters

The Wisconsin DNR is calling on seasoned hunters to share their skills with the next generation. The annual youth deer hunt is set for October 11th and 12th, giving hunters 15 and under a chance to learn the ropes before the regular gun season begins. Young hunters can take part with a mentor, following age-specific safety and certification rules. The DNR reminds all participants to wear blaze orange or pink and practice safe hunting. Families can also mark the occasion by applying for a first harvest certificate through the DNR’s website.
