The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is inviting the public to a free fall open house at the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery on Saturday, October 31st.
The event runs from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and celebrates the annual fall salmon migration. Activities for all ages include learning to cast a fishing rod, fish identification, fish-printing on tote bags, and an activity that lets visitors experience how salmon swim upstream to spawning areas.
Visitors can also explore the original 1908 hatchery on their own or take a guided tour of the modern facility, which raises trout, salmon, walleye, lake sturgeon and other fish species.
The Wild Rose Fish Hatchery is located on State Highway 22 in Wild Rose. Admission is free, and more information is available on the Wisconsin DNR website.
