The 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard has awarded the first construction contract as it gets ready for F-35 fighter jets to be hosted in Madison. A 19,000 square-foot simulator facility will be built at Truax Field by a Madison construction company. The 18-month project is to start next month. The first F-35s are to arrive at Truax in 2023. There will be 19 contracts to be awarded and completed before the planes arrive. Those deals are expected to be worth about $100 million.
