Wisconsin Army National Guard Honors Retired Colonels

On October 19, the Wisconsin Army National Guard held a Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony, recognizing the significant contributions of retired Colonels Julie Gerety and Jeffery Paulson. They are the 75th and 76th Guardsmen to be inducted into this prestigious honor at the Department of Military Affairs in Madison.

Retired Col. Julie Gerety, former Brigade Commander for the 64th Troop Command, highlighted her pride in leading the Troop Command and her commitment to developing leaders and mentorship within the organization. She established a leadership summit to celebrate Wisconsin Army National Guard history, and her guidance continues to influence current officers and noncommissioned officers.

Brig. Gen. Matthew Strub, Wisconsin’s deputy adjutant general for Army, praised Gerety’s impact on his career and the broader organization, stating, “This is a better organization, and we have better leaders because of your service.”

Retired Col. Jeffery Paulson served in various key roles, including commander of the 832nd Air Ambulance Company and the deputy chief of staff for safety and aviation. With over 4,700 flight hours as a Master Army Aviator, Paulson has participated in multiple operations, including Operations Desert Spring and Iraqi Freedom.

Strub acknowledged Paulson’s leadership in transforming the Wisconsin Army National Guard aviation community into a competent and professional organization.

During the ceremony, both inductees received a certificate of commendation from Governor Tony Evers, and current and former inductees were presented with custom lapel pins to commemorate their membership in the Hall of Honor. Strub emphasized the importance of honoring those who have paved the way for today’s service members.

This celebration highlights the dedication and legacy of those who have served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
