Disaster survivors affected by severe storms and flooding in Wisconsin from April 13 through 23 have two weeks remaining to apply for federal assistance. The deadline for FEMA assistance and SBA physical disaster loans is Monday, August 31.
Homeowners and renters in 19 designated counties and the Oneida Nation may be eligible for FEMA assistance if they have uninsured damage to their primary residence, personal property losses, or disaster-related emergency needs.
FEMA says survivors must complete an application, even if a FEMA assessment team previously visited their home or they reported damage through 211. Applications can be made online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800-621-3362, or in person at a Disaster Recovery Center.
FEMA is also reminding storm survivors to check their furnaces and water heaters before winter. Additional assistance may be available if flood damage is discovered. Survivors who disagree with a FEMA decision or the amount of assistance received generally have 60 days from the date of their FEMA decision letter to appeal.
Businesses affected by the April storms can apply for SBA physical disaster loans through August 31. Economic Injury Disaster Loans are also available in designated and neighboring counties through March 30, 2027.
