Wisconsin Opens Applications for Electric Grid Resilience Funding

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is now accepting applications for its Grid Resilience Program, aimed at protecting the state’s electric grid from extreme weather, wildfires and natural disasters.

The second round of funding includes 7.2 million dollars available for immediate awards, with an additional estimated 9.7 million dollars in conditional funding if more federal money becomes available.

The program supports projects to strengthen power lines and substations, improve monitoring systems, reduce outages in rural and disadvantaged communities, and train workers for grid resilience projects. Seventy-five percent of the funding has been reserved for smaller utilities.

Phase One applications are due February 22nd, 2027. The PSC will also host an informational webinar on November 5th.
