A U-W-Madison professor is working on a vaccine to protect birds from avian influenza. The university says microbiology professor, Adel Talaat, in the U-W School of Veterinary Medicine, is using genetic sequencing data from a number of different avian influenza strains to develop the vaccine. A case of the bird flu was identified earlier this month in Jefferson County. That facility is now quarantined.
