One hundred thirty-one referendum questions for 120 Wisconsin school districts are on the ballots Tuesdays. Voters in those districts will be asked to allow increases in operational spending or to undertake debt for building and renovation projects. Local school districts with referendums on ballots Tuesday include Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan, Bangor, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Marshfield, Mauston, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Sparta, Tomah, Viroqua, and West Salem. District officials say legislative imposed revenue limits and limited state funding pose challenges for how they can keep up with rising costs and staff compensation.
