Black River Falls Council Approves Proposed 2027 Budget for Public Hearing

The Black River Falls Common Council has approved its proposed 2027 city operating budget for publication, with a public hearing scheduled for November 18th.

The proposed budget includes restoring funding for the Shared Ride Taxi service to 75-thousand dollars, partially restoring the capital projects levy to 400-thousand dollars, and increasing the debt service levy to 575-thousand dollars. The changes would result in an overall property tax levy increase of just over 41-thousand dollars, or 1.73 percent, bringing the proposed levy to approximately 2.42 million dollars.

During its October 21st meeting, the council also approved up to 18-thousand 364 dollars for emergency lighting and accessories for the Fire Department’s new command vehicle. Members approved selling the department’s 2016 Chevy Suburban and awarded a bid to Osseo Ford for a new police squad vehicle at a cost of just under 47-thousand dollars.

The council also approved an ordinance updating the city’s adoption of Wisconsin state traffic laws.

The next Black River Falls Common Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th.
