Black River Falls Traffic Stop Results in Arrest for Rockford Woman

Markeea D. Benjamin, 41 years of age, from Rockford, IL has been arrested by the Wisconsin State
Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with two
children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for a speed violation on Interstate 94
westbound at milepost 122, south of Black River Falls. The Trooper observed that the driver,
Markeea Benjamin, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized
field sobriety testing, showed that Ms. Benjamin was operating a motor vehicle while under the
influence of a controlled substance. She was subsequently arrested and charged with operating
under the influence of a restricted controlled substance-1st offense with having passengers under
16 years old and possession of drug paraphernalia. The two minor passengers were left in the care
of a family member. Ms. Benjamin was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical
test of her blood, then released to a responsible party.
