Cortney Javar Saffold, 38 years of age, from Minneapolis, MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin
State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with
three children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for traveling 80 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h.
construction zone on Interstate 94 at mile post 72. The Trooper observed that the driver, Cortney
Saffold, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field
sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Saffold was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of
a controlled substance. He was subsequently arrested and charged with operating while under the
influence of a restricted controlled substance-1st offense with passengers under 16 years old and
possession of THC. Mr. Saffold was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary test of his
blood. The children were left in the care of an adult passenger.
