Black River Memorial Hospital has opened a new inpatient pharmacy and updated waiting area for its medical-surgical unit. The space will provide medications for hospital patients, including the ability to safely compound hazardous drugs such as chemotherapy for the infusion center. The renovation also includes new restrooms, a meditation room with a live moss wall, and a redesigned waiting area featuring a donated engraved glass display. Hospital leaders say the upgrade improves patient care and provides families with a more comfortable space, all while making better use of existing hospital space without expanding the building. The inpatient pharmacy serves only hospitalized patients, while retail pharmacy services remain available at the Krohn Clinic location.
