Bonnie Lou Konkel, 67, formerly of Trempealeau, passed away on August 8, 2025, at St. Francis
Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri after a brief illness.
Bonnie was born in Arcadia on May 10, 1958, to Jerome and Gloria (Moe) Suchla and attended
Arcadia High School. She married Paul Konkel in Whitehall on July 9, 1983, and together they
had two children: Melissa born in 1984 and Jacob born in 1988. Bonnie and Paul started their
life together in Winona, MN, then decided to buy 4 acres of land near Trempealeau and built
their family home. After the passing of their son, Jacob, and Melissa’s graduation from high
school, Bonnie and Paul bought a house in Galesville they gutted and remodeled. Eventually,
Melissa talked them into buying a house in Poplar Bluff, MO, at the end of 2023.
She worked for a few years for Schuler Candy Company before deciding to be a stay-at-home
Mom. Along with caring for her own children, Bonnie did in-home daycare for local families in
Trempealeau and respite care for her nephew. She had a love for baking and sharing her
delicious treats with family and friends. Bonnie and Paul will be famously remembered for their
mouthwatering pumpkin rolls. Bonnie enjoyed creating themed baskets and tying them off with
her handmade bows to raffle at St. Bartholomew’s yearly fall festival.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Paul of La Crosse; daughter: Melissa Konkel of Poplar Bluff,
MO; sister: Karen of Emporia, KS; along with many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Jacob in 2002.
