Charlotte Louise (Hanson) Skaar, age 86, of Hixton, died on Thursday, February
22, 2024 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Charlotte was born on January 13, 1938 to Cornel and Selma (Olson) Hanson at
their home in Blair. Charlotte was the youngest of nine children. Her mother
passed away when Charlotte was almost ten years old. Her father and siblings
continued to raise her in to an amazing young woman.
Charlotte attended the Blair High School and was Homecoming Queen in 1955.
She graduated from the Blair High School in 1956. Charlotte married John Skaar
on June 2, 1956 and together they had four children.
While raising her children, Charlotte was employed at Club 95 Supper Club in
Hixton. In later years, she enjoyed caring for many children in Hixton and found it
rewarding and brought her so much joy! She enjoyed having friends and family at
their home and serving tasty treats and refreshments.
Charlotte was dedicated to serving her community. She was a proud member of
the American Legion Hanson Lien Auxiliary for 58 years and a member of Our
Savior’s Luthern Church in Hixton.
Charlotte is survived by her four children, Stewart (Lori), Shawn (Tom) Kniseley,
Shelley (Jerome) Waldera and Steve Skaar; six grandchildren, sisters- in-law,
brothers- in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; her parents, Cornel
and Selma Hanson; her siblings, Norah, Myrinne, Elvina, Esther, Stanley, Birdene,
Fern and Arthur and several of their spouses; nieces, nephews and a grandson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Our
Savior’s Luthern Church with burial in the Trinity Rest Cemetery both in Hixton.
Pastor Steve Aldach will officiate.
