Danny “Dan” Winson

Danny “Dan” Winson, 65 of Alma Center, WI passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 14th while surrounded by his family. He was born October 16th, 1959 at Black River Hospital, to Claude and Violet (Cooper) Winson.

Dan was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Alma Center, Wi. We went on to have various jobs throughout his life which included shearing Christmas Trees, logging pulp and cutting firewood. At age 55, he retired after working for 35 years as a backhoe operator for Operating Engineers Local 139.

Dan married is wife Doreen (Myers) Winson on April 25th, 1981 and spent 44 wonderful years together. He was an avid deer funter and made many memories pheasant hunting with his beloved bird dog, Belle. Dan enjoyed fishing in the summer with his friends, wife and grandchildren. When he was home, you could find him watching Westerns or rooting for all the Wisconsin sports teams.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Violet (Cooper) Winson; brother-in-law and sister Chuck and Gloria (Winson) Rupnow; and bother and sister-in-law Chris and Myrna (Peterson) Winson.

He is survived by his wife Doreen (Myers) Winson; daughter Rebbecca (Mark Thompson); grandchildren Levi and Carter Meincke, and Chevelle and Colten Thompson; sister Kathie Heath; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A celebration of life will be planned for Dan in the spring of 2026.
