Age 64 of Black River Falls passed away peacefully on March 25 2024 at the Veterans Home in Tomah Wi. and was given a full honorable military escort. David was born June 13 1960 to Delmer and Avriel Waughtal in Black River Falls. David grew up and attended school and church in Black River Falls. He spent the summers in Hatfield swimming, roller skating, camping and with family. Once David was old enough he on to motorcycles, go carts or anything with a motor. At the same time he got the hunting bug. He was lucky enough to have had a great teacher.

David enlisted in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home he married Cindy Fox and lived and worked in the area. To this union they were blessed with three boys. In life he had many passions which included hunting, fishing, camping, Harley Davidson motorcycles, scuba diving, road hunting with the boys, junking, Sturgis and Hogs Inn and lets not forget cooking (yum yum) Whabaque and his love for chocolate covered cherries.

David was also a hero, it was in his blood. On July 17, 1999 while on a scuba trip on the North Shores of Lake Superior the crew decided to drive up the scenic route stopping at the Temperance River outlet. Why they Stopped?? Maybe a higher power was at work. But they stopped and David was able to save a young girl from drowning. Sorry to say he was unable to save her father. We thank you for that.

David will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by sons Brandon(Amy), David Jr. and Robert all of Black River Falls, sisters Sheila(Jim) Leverentiz and Rebecca(Kevin) Holcomb and brother Deimer Jr.(Julie). He is survived by grandchildren Hope, Kayleigh, Hannah and Haliee and great grandson Samuel. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Melanie, Heather(Erick), Nichole, Kevin(Gwen), Megan and Domonic and also by lifelong friend/brother Casey Whitegull and great Aunt Marlene.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Debbie and brother Kevin. There will be no services at this time.
