Donald Lavern Johnson, age 88, of Blair, died on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the
Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Donald was born on October 8, 1937 in Blair to Lloyd and Doris (Johnson)
Johnson.
Donald graduated from Blair High School in 1956. After school he worked for an
outfit trimming trees and then went to work for the Boeing Aircraft Company in
Seattle, WA until being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1960. He spent 26 years in
the Army serving two tours in Korea, two tours in Vietnam and two tours in
Germany.
While stationed at Camp Roberts, CA, Donald met his wife Nira Reyes and they
married on May 23, 1969 in Paso Robles, CA. After retiring from the Army in 1986,
Donald and Nira eventually moved to Blair in 1999 where Donald could enjoy
hunting, fishing and trapping.
Donald is survived by his children, Carla Andino and Chuck Dekeado; six
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his brother Arnie and his two sisters, Natelie
Olson and Janice Davis and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife Nira; a
daughter, Tina Botares, and two sisters, Mavis Beagle and Barbara Barilani.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 12:00
p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Blair with military rites conducted by the
Knudtson-Mattison American Legion Post #231. A luncheon will be held after the
graveside services in the Blair Lutheran Church West in Blair.
The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
