A serious crash involving three semi tractor-trailers shut down westbound Interstate 94 in Jackson County early this morning.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday at mile marker 100 near Hixton. The collision resulted in a full blockage of the westbound lanes. One driver was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Westbound I-94 is expected to remain closed for an extended period as crews remove the damaged vehicles. Traffic is being rerouted from Highway 95 in Hixton to Highway 121 through Northfield.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Highway Department, Hixton Fire, Black River EMS, Mayo Ambulance, and several towing services.
