Eva Jane Gamoke, 75, of Arcadia, passed away peacefully at her home on April 9 th , 2025.
Eva was born July 18, 1949, to Francis and Eunice Patten of Ettrick, WI.  She, along with her older sister
Pat, younger brother Terry and sister Sue had a good childhood growing up in the small town of Ettrick.
After graduating from Gale – Ettrick High School, she married Thomas Theisen of La Crosse.  The two of
them had 4 sons: Sean, Eric, Matthew, and Isaac and lived in rural Arcadia.  When this marriage ended,
Eva did an incredible job of raising her 4 sons as a single mother.
Her second marriage to Dennis Gamoke of Arcadia and a move to Hayward, WI fulfilled her dream of
living on a river in the Northwoods with the sounds of the loons’ serenades. After several wonderful
years in Hayward, they returned to the Arcadia area and built their dream home where they lived until
Dennis passed away.
Eva worked, for much of her life, in the medical field.  She especially enjoyed her time at St. Joseph
Hospital in Arcadia.  There, she found lifelong friends that continued to enjoy each other’s company long
after her employment ended.
She enjoyed nature, peace, and solitude.  She also enjoyed spending time with family, whether that was
a simple visit or taking trips with her siblings.  Though not aligned with any particular faith, she was a
very spiritual person.
Eva is survived by her sons: Sean (Jo) Theisen of Onalaska, Eric (Dori Wenger) Theisen of Independence,
Matt (Kim) Theisen of Lake Halle and Isaac Theisen of Holmen; grandchildren: Michael Schock, Kaylie
(Jay) Spittler, Cara Theisen, Nicholas Theisen, and Carson Wenger; great-grandchildren: Briven, Avayla
and Ayker; and sisters: Pat Meyers and Sue Severson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Eunice Patten; husband: Dennis Gamoke; and
brother: Terry Patten.
Eva will be cremated; there will be a celebration of life, to be announced at a later date, and will be laid
to rest in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, rural Ettrick, next to her husband Dennis.

Our family would like to give special thanks to Neil Jensen for all of the help he provided to her
throughout her illness in helping her to get to all of her appointments, as well as Pat Meyers for her help
in guiding Eva and all of us through her final journey.
