Family Promise of the Great Rivers has received a 30-thousand-dollar grant from Love Always of La Crosse to help meet growing demand for shelter and family support services in Jackson and Monroe Counties.
The funding will be used to create a new Shelter Operations Manager position, which will oversee daily shelter operations, ensure families’ basic needs are met, and provide on-site case management. The change will allow other staff to focus more on prevention programs like eviction prevention and shelter diversion, where unmet need is rising.
Family Promise says demand for services has reached unprecedented levels. Since April of last year, more than 165 families have applied for help and many remain on a growing waitlist, with few able to find assistance elsewhere.
Founded in Monroe County in 2012, Family Promise of the Great Rivers serves families experiencing homelessness through prevention, emergency shelter, housing assistance, and stabilization services, and has helped more than 1,400 individuals across the region.
