A tragic single-vehicle crash occurred Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 3:13 PM on I-90 westbound at mile marker 133.4 in Dane County, near Madison. The Wisconsin State Patrol reported that a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, driven by a 61-year-old man from Waunakee, veered onto the right shoulder, struck a guardrail, and then collided head-on with the median barrier.
The driver, identified as Bayanjaragal Genden, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The vehicle’s front airbag deployed, but the lone occupant sustained fatal injuries.
City of Madison Fire & EMS responded to the scene, and the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Technical Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
