Kenneth Thompson, 57 years of age, from Monee, IL, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State
Patrol DeForest Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with nine
children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
On July 24, 2025, the Wisconsin State Patrol DeForest Post received multiple reports of a pick-up
truck pulling a fifth-wheel camper with children waving at other motorists through the windows of the
camper. Callers reported that the children appeared to be in distress. Troopers located the vehicle
traveling south on I-39/90/94 near US-151. The vehicle exited towards Madison and a high-risk stop
was conducted on E. Washington Avenue near E. Springs Drive.
The driver, Kenneth Thompson, age 57 of Monee, Illinois, exhibited signs of impairment and he was
put through Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Thompson was subsequently arrested for
Operating While Under the Influence with Passengers Under 16 Years of Age.
The children located in the fifth-wheel camper knew Thompson and were later safely reunited with
family.
Thompson was booked into the Sauk County Jail for charges that originated in Lake Delton.
The case is still on-going and under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and Lake Delton
Police Department.
