The Black River Falls Public Library-Jackson County History Room will
host a Cemetery Stone Cleaning Seminar on Sunday, May 19, at the Melrose
Cemetery, Highway 54 West, Melrose. The seminar will begin at 1p.m.
Those in attendance are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Jackson County
History Room Volunteers Bruce Ladron and Sarah Larkin, and Historian
Mary Woods will demonstrate the proper way to clean several types of
stones. The group will clean the stone of Melrose founder Robert Douglas
and his wife, Mary, along with the stones for Peter and Mary (Jones) Baker
who were early pioneers of the Melrose Community. Curt Woods will give a
brief history of the Douglas Family and information will be shared about the
lives of Peter and Mary Baker. There is no charge for the seminar, nor
