A 66-year-old Black River Falls man was arrested Sunday evening following a report of a suspicious vehicle in Merrillan. Jackson County authorities say the driver was allegedly intoxicated and became assaultive with callers.
Deputies located the vehicle on County Road K in the Town of Komensky and identified the driver as Steven Cleveland. He admitted to drinking, showed signs of impairment, and refused field sobriety tests.
Cleveland was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges including ninth-offense OWI, intimidation of victims, and disorderly conduct. Authorities say he was on parole for a felony OWI at the time of his arrest.
