The Black River Falls Common Council met Tuesday night at City Hall. All council members were present, with two attending remotely. The council approved the minutes from its previous meeting and placed the December Utility Commission minutes on file.
Only one citizen addressed the council — Brady Palmer — expressing concerns about unsafe pedestrian conditions and the use of nitrous oxide in the community.
The council unanimously approved Ordinance 900, rezoning property at 441 State Highway 54 from single-family residential to highway business district following a prior public hearing and recommendation from the Plan Commission.
City officials also discussed a proposed ground-mounted solar project for City Hall. Based on limited projected energy savings, the City Administrator recommended against moving forward. Instead, the city will revisit potential roof-mounted solar in the future and explore solar options for other facilities, including the Milt Lunda Ice Arena and Hoffman Aquatic Center. Council members agreed not to proceed with the current plan.
The city also confirmed that all officials up for re-election have filed nomination papers, with no contested races or registered write-in candidates for April’s election.
The meeting adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
