Jean Elberda Berg, age 70, of Humbird passed away Wednesday February 4, 2026.
Jean was born October 16, 1955 in Black River Falls, WI to Cyrus and Gloria (Lange)
Comstock. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Alma Center in 1973. On August
30, 1973 she married the love of her life Raymond John Berg and began the adventure
of being a military wife, spending time in Texas, Georgia, and Germany before returning
home to the Merrillan/Humbird area. Jean worked many years as a childcare provider,
cook, and at Leeson (Regal-Beloit) in small motor assembly. She enjoyed camping and
spending time with her family and friends. Jean’s love language was food. Many people
benefited from her cooking, baking, and canning, and no one was allowed to leave her
house hungry.
Jean is survived by her 3 children; Michelle (Joe) Hinchcliff, Michael (Melanie) Berg, and
Adam Berg, 9 grandchildren; Miranda Hinchcliff (Jason), Mary Rogers (Travon), Wyatt
Berg, Morgan Berg, Julia Berg, Alyssa Berg (Erica), Hannah Hanson (Lucas), Mason
Berg, and Victoria Berg, and great grandchildren Ayden, Adonis, Andreas, and Mavis.
She is also survived by her brother Leonard “Bill” Comstock, her sister Joanne Johnson
(Marvin), sister in law Jean Comstock (John), and many special nieces, nephews,
cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Judy Comstock and John
Comstock, and brother-in laws Marvin Johnson, and Carol Hayes.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service for Jean on Saturday, February 14,
2026 at 12:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Merrillan, WI. Internment will follow
at Oakwood Cemetery in Merrillan, WI. Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home is assisting the
family with arrangements.
