Jerome “Jerry” Joseph Puchalla, age 79, of rural Whitehall, died on Sunday,
October 20, 2024 in the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.
Jerry was born on March 4, 1945 in Arcadia to Germaine and Irene (Sobotta)
Puchalla. He married Catherine “Kitty” Huber on May 24, 1985 at Saint John’s
Catholic Church in Whitehall.
Jerry graduated from Arcadia High School and continued his schooling through
Eau Claire Technical College where he received his Business Administration-
Accounting Associates Degree. Jerry was a jack of all trades who was
successful in anything he pursued. He ran and managed the local meat packing
plant for many years. Once the company closed, Jerry continued to raise and
sell his own beef. Jerry had a deep love for horses and farming. He and his wife,
Kitty, would work together to make their own hay each year and breed and raise
horses. Jerry had a passion for everything he did as well as for the people
around him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Kitty; his brother, Gerald Puchalla; two sons, Todd
(Melissa) Puchalla and Tom Puchalla; grandkids, cousins and Brittany (Josh)
Halama who he thought of as a daughter.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Germaine and Irene (Sobotta)
Puchalla
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. in the Jack
Funeral Home in Whitehall where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
