On Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, an employee with the Black River Falls Municipal Utilities
called the Jackson County Dispatch Center to report they had located a deceased person in the
water near the Black River Falls Dam.
Members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and confirmed that the
deceased person was Stacy Lyn Shramek, age 53, of Black River Falls.
Stacy had been reported missing by her family on the evening of November 23rd. In the days and
weeks following her disappearance, multiple agencies and organizations worked tirelessly
investigating Stacy’s possible whereabouts and combing the area of the river where she’d last
been seen.
