A fatal crash on Interstate 94 westbound near mile marker 240 in Dane County claimed one life and left five others injured Friday afternoon, May 9th.

The incident occurred around 1:58 p.m. near Madison, and involved four vehicles—including a pickup truck towing a travel trailer, an SUV, a minivan, and another pickup. Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the scene as crews responded to reports of injuries.

This crash unfolded just minutes after an earlier incident at mile marker 136 on I-39/90/94, causing a secondary multi-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of I-94.

Emergency response included the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Fire and EMS, Dane County Communications, Precision Towing, and Liberty Towing.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash. No further details on the victims have been released at this time.
