Norman “Norm” E. Stoker, 90, passed away peacefully at the Grandview Care Center in Blair,
Wis., with his loved ones by his side.
Norm was born to Algie and Inez (Lien) Stoker on January 10, 1934, in Taylor Wisconsin.
On June 25, 1955, Norm married Shirley Lindow and had two daughters, Cheryl (Randy)
Jurowski and Sharon (Greg) Halama. The two later divorced. On December 3, 1977, Norm
married Renea Eddy and adopted her daughter, Marti (Tracy) Herzberg, into the family.
Norm spent thirty-six and a half years working for the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources in Fish Management, thirty years of which was spent as the Co-op Pond Supervisor.
Norm retired from this position on March 1, 1991.
He joined the Black River Masonic Lodge #74 in 1976 and took the Entered Apprentice Degree
and then the Fellowcraft Degree and was finally raised to the Master Mason Degree. He served
in office as a steward for two years, then as a Junior Deacon, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden,
Senior Warden, and then as Worship Master in 1983.
Norm was elected to Brockway Sanitary District for the township of Brockway in April of 1987.
He was also elected as supervisor in September of 1987 and then elected as Brockway town
Chairman. In April of 1994, he was elected to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors until
2021 when he decided to retire and not run for re-election in 2022. This ended his 28 years of
service.
Norm is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl (Randy) Jurowski, Sharon (Greg) Halama, and
Marti (Tracy) Herzberg; his grandchildren Faithe (Cory) Kacik, Desirae Hanson, Garrett Halama,
and Julia (Kyle) Micek; his great-grandchildren Amelia and Jensen Kacik, Ronnie Mae Halama,
and Westyn and Elise Rae Hope Micek, as well as many other friends and loved ones.
Norm is preceded in death by his beloved wife Renea, and his parents, Algie and Inez.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 8 th at the Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River
Falls. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at which time there will be a private
Masonic Service with family. There will also be an hour of visitation before the funeral service on
Saturday, November 9 th at the Black River Falls United Methodist church from 1:00 p.m. until the
start of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial and internment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in
Black River Falls, and all are invited back to the church afterward for refreshments.
